The Singapore Model United Nations (SMUN) is the largest Model United Nations (MUN) conference in Singapore, convening over 400 students from around the world at each session to discuss and craft solutions to hot-button issues in global affairs. With its pristine reputation of organizational excellence and academic prestige, SMUN has distinguished itself from other MUN conferences in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region since its inaugural session in 2004.
SMUN is the flagship event of the Political Science Society (PSSoc) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The conference is held annually at the NUS Kent Ridge Campus, which boasts a range of state-of-the-art amenities to provide participants with an ideal environment for both learning and recreation.
SMUN prides itself on the illustrious credentials of both its organizing staff and its committee chairpersons. Several past and present members of the SMUN Secretariat have chaired at other esteemed conferences, such as the Harvard World MUN and Asia-Pacific MUN Conference (AMUNC). Many have also won awards at these conferences; in 2017, a team comprising several members of the SMUN Secretariat collectively clinched the Outstanding Delegation Award at the Pan-Asia MUN (PAMUN) in Taipei, Taiwan.
With each passing year, SMUN seeks to not only maintain, but to build upon the success of its preceding sessions, by continually introducing new committee formats and conference highlights to keep MUN interesting, relevant and educational.
